Specialist CSE training, risk assessment, and consultancy — delivered by Dr. Katherine Fitzpatrick, whose doctoral research and frontline social work experience make her one of the most qualified CSE practitioners working in the Gulf today.
Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) is a form of child sexual abuse in which a child or young person is manipulated, coerced, or forced into sexual activity in exchange for something they need or want — such as gifts, money, affection, status, or protection.
CSE can occur in person or online. It often involves a process of grooming — where a perpetrator builds trust with a child (and sometimes their family) before the exploitation begins. This makes it particularly difficult to identify, and children are frequently unaware that they are being exploited.
CSE affects children of all backgrounds, genders, and ages. It is not limited to any particular community or culture — and it is present in the Gulf region, including within international school communities.
Organisations working with children have a duty to be able to recognise the signs of CSE, respond appropriately, and refer concerns through the correct channels. This requires specialist knowledge — and that is exactly what Gulf Safeguarding provides.
No single indicator confirms CSE — but a pattern of the following signs should prompt a safeguarding conversation with your DSL or a specialist.
If you have a concern about a child right now, contact your Designated Safeguarding Lead immediately. If you believe a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
From whole-staff awareness training to urgent case consultation — Gulf Safeguarding provides the full range of CSE support your organisation may need.
Delivered by Dr. Katherine Fitzpatrick — whose doctoral research focused specifically on whether social workers are equipped to handle CSE. Training covers recognition, risk assessment, referral pathways, and trauma-informed responses.
Expert consultation on individual cases or concerns. Katherine brings frontline experience from UK local authority CSE investigations and can support your team in assessing risk and determining the appropriate response.
Review and development of your organisation's CSE-specific policies — ensuring they reflect current best practice, are fit for the Gulf context, and give staff clear guidance on how to act.
Concise, high-impact briefings for senior leaders and governors on CSE — what it is, what your organisation's responsibilities are, and how to ensure your systems are robust.
Urgent support when a CSE concern arises. Katherine can advise on immediate steps, referral obligations, communication with families, and how to manage the situation in a way that prioritises the child's safety.
Retained consultancy for organisations that want ongoing access to specialist CSE expertise — including regular case review, policy updates, and staff support.
